Team Leader

A brilliant opportunity to join our Production team

What’s it all about?

Responsible for the on-shift supervision of the operational team, ensuring all manufacturing KPIs including OEE, waste and plan versus target are achieved and where necessary implement on-shift actions to ensure customer service is not compromised.  You will work closely with other Team Leaders to optimize resources. As part of a wider team with the Production Manager you will support CI improvements, HSE and audit readiness and ensure your immediate team has the appropriate skills to carry out their roles.

Key Accountabilities 

  • Ensuring your team is always adhering to safe systems of work and acting in a safe manner to protect the health and safety of others as well as the food safety and integrity of our products.
  • Dealing with on-shift performance issues and supporting the respective Production Manager in the identification of development and training needs and execute them for your team.
  • Lead the on-shift SIC reviews and provide accurate and timely data to the respective Production Manager.
  • To ensure the highest standards of HSE, housekeeping, hygiene and other good manufacturing practices are maintained
  • Working with peers and the Thins and Crispbread Production Managers to ensure adequate resources are in place to deliver agreed manufacturing plans.
  • Manage on-shift holidays and absence in-line with site guidelines and policies.
  • Respond immediately to any incidents of production downtime, utilising on-shift resources such as Shift Engineers.
  • To respond to, lead and investigate any on-shift incidents (H&S, Food Safety, People) as they occur.
  • Escalate issues as appropriate in a timely manner.
  • Provide and manage effective communication within your team.
  • Conduct regular 1-1 meeting with your team
  • Optimise product changeovers, ensure all due diligence is completed as required.
  • Deputise for peer group as required.
  • Help the site to achieve its environmental targets by reducing its impact on the environment.

Experience and Skills

  • Food manufacturing experience – ideally in bakery sector (essential).
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of safety, food safety and employee legislation (essential).
  • Previous people/line management experience (essential)
  • HACCP/Food safety qualification (desirable)
  • Experience of audits
