Shift Manager – Poole

The core focus of this role is to lead a team consisting of Bakery Team Leaders and Production Operatives at Poole in accordance with the SPIRIT of the business, ensuring zero harm to consumers and employees

Key accountabilities

The role will require you to be:

  • Role model for Health Safety & Environment and Food Hygiene.
  • Responsible for ensuring the team is adhering to safe systems of work processes and acting in a safe manner to always protect the health and safety of yourself and others.
  • To promote a culture of positive safety behaviours within your team, demonstrate strong safety leadership and address unsafe behaviours and working practices to coach the right behaviours.
  • To ensure we maintain an Environmentally responsible operation though all processes
  • Follow all Quality systems and procedures to ensure our products meet food safety (HACCP), legal and customer requirements as well as maintaining external standards eg BRC, IFS, Femas.
  • Ensure your team have the appropriate skills and development to be the best they can be.
  • Delivering Results; taking ownership and accountability for managing Shift operations and resources to ensure efficient production plan achievement.
  • Working together as one; the proactive involvement of stakeholders across the business in making timely decisions for the best business outcome.
  • Taking People with you; lead and develop team to high performance including recruitment, training, coaching, communication, motivation and engagement.
  • Setting the Agenda; supports and communicates innovation and consumer activities.
  • To promote and lead a culture of continuous improvement across the Bakery
  • To manage and control all material and labour costs to achieve budget and lead continuous improvement activities to gain cost reduction
  • To deputise for the Production Manager during meetings, projects, holidays or when required.

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in role and able to demonstrate successful leadership
  • Proven experience of involvement in capital improvement projects
  • Knowledge of Food safety legislation
  • Experience within FMCG production environment and managing cross functional teams
  • Working in an environment that has Health & Safety as a high priority, ideally where behavioural safety has been rolled out
  • Able to demonstrate effective people management skills
  • IOSH/NEBOSH - desirable
  • Diploma/Degree Leadership & Management - desirable
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office package
