Security Officer – Nights (Part time)

An exciting opportunity to join our Poole site as a Security Officer

What’s it all about?

  • To ensure the safety and wellbeing of persons on site
  • To ensure the security of the premises
  • To work within all statutory Health & Safety and Food safety requirements
  • To ensure all the Company’s policies are adhered to
  • To operate the CCTV system in line with the security requirements and Company’s CCTV policy
  • Liaise with Warehouse for the incoming and outgoing trailers on site, ensuring the safety of employees and visitors.
  • To control and log all third parties entering site
  • To provide Site Health and Safety rules to visitors (Video and Documentation)
  • To Provide Visitors with access card
  • Booking and logging of Hire Cars and Taxis where appropriate
  • To liaises between third parties and other departments
  • To operate the employee shop, stock checking, ordering of stock and serving employees.
  • To control vehicles entering and leaving site
  • Ensure all incoming and outgoing calls are dealt with professionally and confidentially.
  • To be point of contact with issues regarding safety and security
  • To ensure that the site is safe and secure, for example windows and door checks
  • To adapt and assist in areas outside security core role if require

Key Accountabilities 

  • To demonstrate Personal Accountability within the site and ensure that all Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are met
  • To Report near misses, unsafe working practices, acts and conditions
  • To maintain a good team spirit and working relationship with work colleagues
  • To drive performance on recognised business KPI’s
  • Participating & contributing in Continuous Improvement within the department
  • To encourage a team based approach to identifying issues and problem solving
  • To ensure good communications are maintained with work colleagues and attend all communication briefings where shifts allow
  • To help identify own training needs/skill gaps and coordinate with Line Leader/trainers for training to address skill gaps
  • Deal with Dawn Raids, HMRC and external auditors that require access to the site, ensuring they are dealt with in a timely manner and communicated to the senior team.
  • To maintain a very high level of hygiene and housekeeping standards in your work area
  • Responsible for adhering to safe systems of work processes and acting in a safe manner to protect the health and safety of yourself and others at all times

Follow all Quality systems and procedures to ensure our products meet food safety (HACCP), legal and customer requirements as well as maintaining external standards eg BRC, IFS, Femas

  • Noise – Hearing protection is required and provided
  • Manual handling – Some light lifting and carrying may be required. There are manual handling aids available
  • CoSHH (Dust, chemicals, etc.) – There will be dust and chemicals used within the Operation and PPE will be provided
  • DSEAR – Explosive atmospheres – Flour dust can be explosive and is controlled on site, however good housekeeping is important
  • Dealing with third party visitors and drivers.

Experience and Skills

  • Previous experience in security in a Production Environment
  • Interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Health & Safety Awareness
  • Self-Motivated Individual
  • Problem Solving skills
  • Computer Literate
  • Educated to GCSE Mathematics and English or equivalent
